Ferebee has inscribed, “Bombardier – Enola Gay 6 Aug 1945” alongside the iconic mushroom cloud artwork and Einstein’s equation, E=MC². Tom Ferebee (1918–2000) served as the bombardier aboard the Enola Gay, the B-29 that dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. A decorated U.S. Air Force officer, Ferebee flew over 60 combat missions and later worked in strategic air operations during the Cold War.
