George R. Caron autographed cover commemorating the 40th anniversary of the first use of the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945. The illustrated cachet depicts the Enola Gay with a mapped flight route from Tinian Island to Hiroshima, accompanied by explanatory text identifying the historic mission. The cover has dual U.S. postage with July 16, 1985 and August 6, 1985 postmarks, marking both the aircraft’s return and the anniversary date.

George R. Caron (1919–1995) served as the tail gunner aboard the Enola Gay during the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and was the only crew member to photograph the mushroom cloud from the aircraft. His images became some of the most iconic visual records of the atomic age. Caron later reflected extensively on the mission, offering rare firsthand insight into one of the most consequential moments of the twentieth century.
