32” Blade, 37” overall length. The model 1840 saber designed for the artilleryman was lighter than the cavalry version. Features a brass hilt, and leather grip without wire. Ricasso is marked with what looks like “JT” but believed to be “J.H.” For the inspector John Hannis or Joseph Hannis (1838–1862, often found on NCO swords). No scabbard. Sword is in overall decent condition.
