Description
Shinto-period katana mounted in samurai-style fittings. The blade is unsigned (mumei) and exhibits a relatively straight curvature characteristic of swords made in the 17th century. The blade displays a visible uzumaki mokume hada grain pattern and a midare hamon. Workmanship suggests a possible attribution to the Shitahara school or a related group active during the Edo period, though no definitive attribution is made. The mounts include a custom tsuka and a samezaya-style saya |||| MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: approx. 36 in. | Blade length (guard to tip): approx. 26 in. | Blade tip to tang tip: approx. 33 in.
