Description

Shinto-period tanto housed in plain wooden shirasaya mounts. The blade is unsigned (mumei) and features a slightly curved hira-zukuri construction typical of 17th-century tanto. The blade displays a gunome hamon with elements of togari gunome. The workmanship suggests manufacture within the Mino tradition, possibly by the Echizen Seki school, which was active during this period |||| MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: approx. 15 in. | Blade length (guard to tip): approx. 10.75 in. | Blade tip to tang tip: approx. 14 in.
