
Description
Late Koto-period wakizashi housed in wooden shirasaya mounts. The blade is signed Fujiwara Muneyuki and dates to the Azuchi–Momoyama period (circa 1570s–1600s). Muneyuki was a notable swordsmith from Bungo Province and founder of the Takada school. Due to its length and period of manufacture, the blade may also be classified as an uchigatana, likely intended for one-handed use.
