This depicts a Propaganda Recruiting Piece Based on traditional Wood block printing style , The central scene depicts a Samurai Battle at Sea , a recurring theme in the work of Famous 19th century artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi, reminiscent of historical events like The Battle of Uji River, or the Battle of Yashima .
The propaganda Piece has a modern overlay a the top featuring 20th century elements, including The Rising Sun flag, figures from the Imperial Japanese era, Sea & land battles This was created to to connect ancient warrior spirit with modern Military Service .
