This striking lithograph belongs to Lam's celebrated 1973 portfolio Le Regard Vertical; a suite of six color lithographs representing the culmination of his mature graphic work. The composition showcases his distinctive visual vocabulary: angular; elongated forms that merge human; animal; and vegetal elements -- a synthesis rooted in Santeria iconography and the artist's lifelong dialogue between European modernism and Caribbean spirituality. Lam (1902-1982) remains one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century; bridging the avant-garde movements of Europe with the rich visual traditions of the Caribbean. After studying in Madrid and Paris; where he formed close friendships with Picasso and the Surrealists; Lam returned to Cuba in 1941 and created his most iconic works. His graphic work; particularly the lithographs from the 1970s; continues to be highly sought after by collectors of modern masters.

CONDITION: Excellent condition overall. Colors remain vibrant with no fading. Paper is clean with no foxing; tears; or creases. Margins are full and intact. Framed; not examined out of frame.
