Original World War I U.S. Navy recruitment poster created in 1917 by the American illustrator Howard Chandler Christy. The poster features a woman dressed in a Navy uniform with the slogan GEE!! I WISH I WERE A MAN and a call to action urging men to enlist in the Navy. Dimensions are 23 inches high by 35 inches wide. Condition includes a stain in the upper left corner and tears along the edges. Printed by Posters, Inc. Holyoke, MA 01040. This iconic piece embodies the patriotic recruiting efforts of the era.
