Ralph de Burgos (b. Shanghai, China 1906 d. Washington DC, US 1979) mixed-media collage and oil abstract on paper, circa early 1960s.
Burgos was known largely as a painter, with a leaning toward modernist landscape and still-life. This example is a departure from his standard style, incorporating collage (primarily newspaper clippings), oil paint, and marker.

National Academy of Design, the Art Students League, the School of Industrial Arts, and the Arthur Schweider School of Modern Painting.

Faculty at the Washington Workshop
President of the Society of Washington Artists and of the American Art League
Founder of two schools (de Burgos School of Art in Georgetown and de Burgos School of Art in Falls Church)

He restored and refinished the portraits of 32 presidents of Georgetown University.
