Description
Signed and framed fine art watercolor painting of a 1930s Mediterranean Revival cathedral in Florida. The American painter depicts the Knowles Memorial Chapel at Rollins College in spring, as noted in the title, "Knowles Chapel - April 16, 1994,". Pink azaleas in full bloom on a green lawn, contrasting the soaring white stucco facade and clear blue sky above. The chapel is on the list of National Register of Historic Places. It was constructed between 1931 and '32 by noted church and collegiate architect, Ralph Adams Cram, who considered it his favorite of the more than 75 churches and cathedrals he had designed. Matted in sand-colored grasscloth and framed in gilded wood. Lined with paper in back with wire for hanging. Bright, clean and in as-new condition.
