Original vintage bird print from a mid-1950s folio of tropical birds based on the work of John Gould (1804-1881). Gould was an English ornithologist whose monographs on birds included illustrations by himself, his wife Elizabeth and other artists including Edward Lear.

Shown on this tropical bird print is the Purple-tailed Comet Hummingbird. The lower left corner of the plate identifies the artist and lithographer.

This large, richly colored lithograph was printed by the German firm K. G. Lohse (Frankfurt) and measures 11 x 15 inches. It is in excellent condition with no imperfections. This print is an original vintage Bird print from the mid-1950s - not a reproduction.

The print is carefully packaged in an archival plastic sleeve with backing board, and shipped in a cardboard flat mailer with cardboard insert. Multiple print purchases are combined into a single shipment which can reduce the total shipping charge.
