Description
Poster From Silk Screen Print "Soho n.y." Edition 250/250 1982 by Ole Kortzau. Framed in silver aluminum.
Ole Kortzau (b. 1939) is a Danish visual artist, architect, and designer known for his soft, modern style and designs inspired by nature. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1966, he grew dissatisfied with architecture and shifted his focus to designing everyday objects. His work draws on local culture and the natural world to evoke a sense of sensuality and optimism.
Kortzau gained significant fame in the 1970s and 80s for his popular series of postcards featuring colorful Danish beach and landscape scenes.
For Kvadrat, a major textile company, he designed the "Waves" curtains, which exemplify his soft, less geometric modernism.
He has produced a wide range of designs for renowned Danish manufacturers, including porcelain for Royal Copenhagen and glass for Holmegaard.
Kortzau's designs extend to precious metals, with works for Georg Jensen, which include silverware and modernist jewelry.
Since 2007, he has designed Easter and Christmas decorations for Rosendahl, contributing to their Karen Blixen Collection.
