About the artist: S. Dirtorak is one of the brightest virtuosos of paintbrush whose star has risen lately in Romny's artisti? sky. He was born on August 30, 1969 in a pi?turesque village Vos?hylyha in Romny area.He dreamed of be?oming an artist all along his ?hildhood. He was ?oming regularly to Romny from his village to study art and understand ?olors from Valeriy Zosenko. His way to the top wasn't easy or short. At that time it was almost unrealisti? to be admitted to a prestigious art s?hool for someone from provin?e. S. Dirtorak graduated from Kharkyv State Art ?ollege and Kharkiv Pedagogi?al University. Living in Kharkiv taught Sergiy a lot on his path to a su??essful artist. It is worth mentioning, that among his mentors at that time were P. Shygymaga, M. Konstantinopolsky, V. Khmelnystsky, and other masters of paintbrush. Sergiy has very deep respe?t for his friend and mentor Vitaliy Baranenko. While being a student, Sergiy exhibited his paintings at Kharkiv House of Artists. His self ?riti?ism, hard work and admiration for art were always a part of his life. Sergiy self-edu?ated himself; he was always aimed at sear?hing for something new, something yet undis?overed. Sergiy Dirtorak's work spans from ?lassi?al realism to impressionism. His lands?apes, still life, and oil paintings are full of ?olor and air. His ideals in art are Polenov, Levitan, Yuon, Zhukovsky, Vasilkivsky. The best way for a young artist to su??eed is to find undis?overed, learn new te?hniques, masterfully unite ?olors and tones. He learns a lot from nature itself, also from his experien?ed fellow artists. He also loves his native land, its history, and its ?ompli?ated ?ontemporary living. It is no se?ret that love to ones native land and its people is what gives birth to an artist. His admittan?e to National Guild of Painters of Ukraine in the fall of 2003 was an outstanding event for Dirtorak and Romny's artist ?ommunity. His numerous works, their artisti? value and ?ompleteness were fa?tors that guaranteed him admittan?e to the guild. His works were of a very high level, and that allowed him to join this sele?ted group of artists who are known to be demanding not only to themselves, but their ?olleagues as well. It is worth mentioning that Sergiy Pivtorak is the first ever artist from town of Romny to join the National Guild of Painters of Ukraine. He is an artist who shows his native land, takes a snapshot of the history and people of his native land, tea?hes to appre?iate its beauty, and, after all, to love it. His works are loved. More and more often they end up in museums and private ?olle?tions both in Ukraine and abroad. Pivtorak's paintings are exhibited in Sumy Art Museum, Romny Museum. S. Dirtorak plays an important role in artisti? life of Romny, Sumy, and a?ross the ?ountry. More and more often he parti?ipates in lo?al, regional, and ?ountry wide art exhibitions. Every art exhibition is a new ?hallenge for him. Just in the last few years S. Dirtorak parti?ipated in numerous ?ountry wide art exhibitions devoted to 2000th anniversary of birth of ?hrist (Kyiv, Kharkiv 2000), Artist Day (Kyiv 2000, 2003, Kharkiv 2001), "Pi?turesque Ukraine" (Ivano-Frankivsk, 2001, Donetsk 2001), 65-th anniversary of Kharkiv Regional Guild of Artists (Kharkiv 2003). In addition, personal exhibitions in Romny Museum, art ?enter "Sobor" (Sumy), and Kyiv-Mohyla A?ademy (Kyiv) are also worth mentioning.
