A finely crafted Continental silver tray of substantial scale and elegant form, rectangular with a recessed center and a beautifully pierced and chased border. The intricate rim features alternating motifs of displayed eagles amidst foliate and fruit garlands—symbols of prosperity and strength that reflect the refined decorative language of late 19th-century European silverwork.
SPECIALIST NOTE:
Executed in solid 800 silver, this impressive tray demonstrates the technical and artistic sophistication typical of German silversmiths of the period. The chased detailing and pierced openwork border reveal an exceptional hand, blending naturalistic ornament with heraldic symbolism.
