Title: Traditional Banjara Necklace / Headdress Rajasthan, India Description: Traditional Banjara Necklace / Headdress. This is a rare and finely crafted traditional Banjara women's ornament, worn as a necklace but originally designed as part of a ceremonial headdress. The circular band, known as the indhoni, was traditionally placed on the head and covered with a small square cloth, allowing women to carry large or heavy objects securely. The larger embroidered section, called the galla (or gala), drapes over the back of the head and neck. The piece is richly decorated with rows of old metal beads and coins, complemented by cowrie shell embellishments. Two large central shell elements accent the textile base. The embroidery is executed with exceptionally fine thread, demonstrating skilled craftsmanship. The reverse of the embroidered section is finished with block-printed cotton fabric, typical of authentic Banjara work. Dim: 53 x 33 x 2 cm, 701 gram. Careful registered sending, combined shipping possible.
