Canadian. 1913 to 1920s. Lithographed tin. Frontenac Breweries was founded in 1913 by Joseph Beaubien. It was the first French-Canadian brewery, while all others were being run by English Canadians. Frontenac called itself the "Brewery of the People", targeting residents of the working-class neighbourhoods surrounding Mile End, a neighbourhood in Montreal. The company merged with National Breweries Limited in 1926, making it one of the 14 small breweries that were gobbled up by National. This tray shows the Frontenac factory and is commonly referred to as the "Factory Scene" tray for that reason. Marked, "A.R. Whittall Can co. Ltd. Montreal", lower rim. Authenticated by The Authentication Company (TAC #501437). All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. From the late Marcel Gallays Collection.
