Description
a stunning antique Chinese porcelain jar dating to the late 17th century. The jar was acquired by our consignor’s grandfather during his travels throughout China in the 1920s, adding an appealing element of provenance and history. The piece is very finely crafted, featuring a graceful ovoid-form body with a short neck, executed in fine porcelain. It is decorated in the Wucai style, showcasing vibrant tricolor enamels in green, yellow, and rust red. The frieze design depicts a pair of mythological Fenghuang birds set among large blossoms and scrolling foliage, all rendered with exceptional detail and lively color. DIMENSIONS: jar 5.5" in height and 4.5" in diameter (widest part); with stand and lid 7.5" in height
