A pair of vintage French platinum diamond clips, featuring carved sapphire.
The clips design is focused on symmetry and strong lines. At the center of each piece there is a carved blue sapphire with a floral motif.
Above each sapphire sits a sugar loaf sapphire in a matching hue, rounding out the vertical flow of the design. Framing the sapphires there is a layout of diamonds in mixed cuts - baguette, Old European, triangle and asscher, that are set in layers stepping up toward the top edge.
This diamond setting emphasizes the geometry of the design. The cool tones of the platinum and diamonds beautifully play off the saturated blue sapphires.
The clips can be styled as separated brooches or worn as a matched set.
The clips are made of platinum, carved and sugar-loaf sapphire and various cut (Old European, transitional, baguette, triangle, asscher) diamonds. The sapphire total weight is 8.72 carats.
The diamonds are H- color, VS clarity, total weight approximately 1.74 carats.
The pin is made of white gold. Each clip measures 1” x ¾” (2.5 x 2.2 cm) and weighs 8.7 grams.
The clips are stamped with French hallmarks for platinum.
