The statue is cast in bronze with a beautiful green patina and a felt pad along the bottom. James Siebert (1941–2016) was a California-based artist known for his bronze sculptures, often featuring oceanic themes. He studied at the Theodore Lukits Academy in Los Angeles and became a full-time artist in the mid-1960s The sculpture is signed by the artist and dated "c. 1984," This possibly is an artist’s proof, a pre-edition casting, a unique early example, or part of an open edition without numbering. Circa 1980, signed "James Siebert.c.1984"
