The porcelain platter with a central motif of peonies, bordered with scroll-form panels of birds on autumn branches, interspersed with floral and geometric designs; six-character mark on base; diam. 18". CONDITION REPORT: A slight surface/glaze chip in central area border; scattered areas of wear/scuffing to glaze, and gilt rim mostly worn; stain on rim/underside; no other chips/cracks found. FROM THE FAMILY OF CAPTAIN CARLETON COLE CHAMPION, JR. (1896-1971).
