Henri Chatelain (1684-1743) was a talented artist known for his detailed engravings and straightforward compositions. He had a rich knowledge of history and geography. Originally a Huguenot pastor from Paris, he lived in several places, including Paris, St. Martins, London (around 1710), The Hague (around 1721), and Amsterdam (around 1728). His publishing company, Chatelain Frères and Chatelain & Fils, operated in Amsterdam from about 1700 to 1770. Guillaume Delisle, also spelled Guillaume de l'Isle, or Guillelmo Delille who was a French cartographer known for his popular and accurate maps of Europe and the newly explored Americas was in close contact with Chatelain to create the "Atlas Historique" , Groundbreaking for its time
