Description: Made in the 1920's this task lamp was originally designed in France by Mazda , this one look like an early model of the Gras but it is a Mazda .The cast steel with pivoting ball joint and table-top clamp show the dedication to improving the working conditions of mass laborers . An admirer of the lamp's efficient, streamlined design, Swiss architect Le Corbusier used those in his offices and architectural projects ( as pictured )Stripping the old paint expose the patina of the steel and different metal , those metal are usually alloy steel superior in quality to the recycled metal used in mass produced duplicate and recent lamp. After being polished their variation of tone from the mark of use and passing of time create a warm effect and a connection to the authentic .
Founded in 1921, the Compagnie des Lampes subsequently became a major player in lighting in France through its brand MAZDA (Assyrian Goddess of Light). On December 21, 1909, General Electric first used the name Mazda on their lamps which became a household name .
Size H.31 to 38 fully extended , globe D.5.5 good antique condition , small dent on globe ,original socket with bayonet bulb , provided with an adapteur to E12 us bulb but bayonet bulb are readily available on Amazon. The original clamp is also available if desired .
