Description
Featuring a rough iron mounting and original glass shade, this chandelier has been rewired with an American socket. It represents the pinnacle of brass craftsmanship in France before the onset of mass production in the 1950s, marking the end of an era for small ateliers and the advent of cost-saving measures.
The design of the iron arm shares similarities with works by Sube, Sue, Mare, and others from the same period. Suitable for any modernist interior, it adds a touch of warmth to a pure Eames-style furniture set or the finishing touch to an art deco interior.
About Muller Frere ( brother)Henri Muller left Emile Gallé, along with his brothers Désiré and Eugène, to start his own glass workshop in Lunéville in 1897. Their productions directly competed with those of the Gallé factory, causing Emile Gallé to harbor resentment towards the Muller brothers.Established in 1910, the factory in Lunéville produced molded pressed glass pieces but closed in 1936 due to the Great Depression. It created exquisite Art Deco pieces including vases, ceiling lights, and lampshades.
