The Earth Orbc in the form of C contains a small Earth connected to the Sun by a mechanism with pulley to maintain its constant inclination throughout its revolution around the Sun. The two outer vertical circles represent the colure solstices and equinoxes, the outer horizontal circle is the ecliptic.In 1780, only 6 planets of the solar system were known. They are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Uranus, the seventh planet, was not discovered until the following year in 1781 by Sir William Herschel , it place the year of production late 18th early 19th. since there is 6 planets represented only , the red trim is indicative of a Charles Delamarche mount.
H.19 in x D. 11 in , cleaned , good conditiuon , the moving mecanisn around the sun is in working condition , well preserved Delamarche piece.
