This oil painting cardboard, titled "The boats are sailing", the composition conveys a sense of peace and rhythm, immersing the viewer in the stillness of the water and the quiet beauty of a leisurely boat ride. In the foreground, the river's surface is painted with a blend of earthy browns, muted greens, and soft blues, reflecting the surrounding trees and sky. The texture of the brushwork gives the water a rippling effect, enhancing the impression of gentle movement as the boats drift across the surface. The reflections of the boats and trees create an almost abstract pattern, adding complexity and depth to the composition. At the center, a small boat with a dark hull carries a lone figure, dressed in a striking red garment that contrasts against the subdued colors of the water and landscape. The figure's posture suggests contemplation or quiet observation, reinforcing the painting's serene mood. The thick application of paint adds dimension to the boat, making it stand out as a focal point. In the middle ground, additional boats are scattered across the river, each uniquely rendered with expressive strokes. Some are occupied, while others appear moored near the shore, their forms blending harmoniously with the natural surroundings. The artist's careful use of warm ochres and deep greens suggests the golden hues of late afternoon, as the sun casts a soft glow over the scene. The background features a dense row of trees with autumnal foliage, painted in a rich mix of warm oranges, deep browns, and golden yellows. The impasto technique gives the foliage a thick, sculptural texture, making the trees appear full and alive. Above, the sky is depicted in bright turquoise, contrasting sharply with the earthy tones below and adding vibrancy to the painting. The painting captures the unhurried pace of life on the water, where boats glide effortlessly, and time seems to stand still. Through masterful use of color, texture, and composition, the artist invites the viewer to experience the quiet beauty of a riverside moment, where the movement of boats, the shimmer of water, and the golden light of day create a timeless and soothing scene.
