This oil painting cardboard, titled "I swim to the river bank", the artist employs a rich, textured impasto technique, layering colors with bold, expressive strokes to create a vibrant, dynamic composition. At the center of the scene, a lone figure in a small blue boat rows gently across the river. The oar cuts through the water, creating subtle ripples that reflect the warm hues of the surrounding environment. The figure, dressed in light-colored clothing, is illuminated by a soft glow, which contrasts beautifully against the darker tones of the trees and water. This suggests either the golden light of a setting sun or the gentle morning illumination, adding depth and atmosphere to the painting. The river is depicted with deep greens, blues, and earthy browns, giving it a reflective, almost glassy quality. Floating lily pads and patches of reeds along the riverbank introduce additional texture and color, reinforcing the natural serenity of the scene. The thick application of paint enhances the richness of the water's surface, making it feel alive and ever-changing. The trees, painted with a mix of deep greens, ochres, and purples, frame the upper portion of the painting, their forms slightly blurred and abstracted. The artist's expressive brushwork conveys movement, suggesting a gentle breeze rustling through the leaves and carrying the whispers of the river's current. The dark silhouettes of the trees provide a dramatic contrast against the lighter, glowing patches of sky that peek through the dense canopy. The sky itself is subtly painted, with hints of soft blues and warm peach tones visible through the breaks in the foliage. These delicate color variations add a sense of openness and tranquility to the painting, creating a balance between the dense forest and the fluid movement of the river. This painting evokes a sense of quiet solitude, inviting the viewer to imagine the rhythmic sound of the oar dipping into the water, the rustling of reeds in the breeze, and the distant calls of birds hidden among the trees. It captures a fleeting moment of peace, where the simple act of rowing becomes a meditation, a connection between human presence and the natural world.
