Small 1960s Thomas Hellström ceramic dog figurine for Nittsjö of Sweden. Charming, whimsical piece featuring a gray base (reminiscent of cement in color and texture) with hand-painted facial features and decoration in light blue, black, blue, and olive green. There are small applied dots around the eyes (two on one side, one on the other - either by design or one fell off over time).
Hellström is a renowned artist is Sweden, represented in the National Museum of Sweden, the Dalarna museum, and the Rohss museum. He additionally did a number of commissions for banks, churches, and government buildings.
