Description
Two matching Robinson Ransbottom, 1926 large, Art Nouveau, pottery umbrella/cane stands. These vessels have a cylindrical shape with five panels of decorated blue poppy flowers.
While these stands have the same five panel design, they are finished differently. They both are brushware and have an exterior mat finish but the interiors are different – – one has a high-gloss, turquoise glaze and the other has a greener, satin finish"”one is marked with USA on its bottom and the other is not"”this is common on RRP pottery.
I would ship individually, for safety reasons, as each vessel weighs 23.5 lbs each! ;)
I believe that these umbrella stands can be found in, "Sanfords Guide to the Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Co., page 44.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: There is a hairline crack on the inside (bottom) of the glazed vessel, but it does not show through to the other side and it also shows a little more wear than the other vessel. Since these both came from the same estate sale, I am guessing that one was used outside and one was kept inside. They would both work best as planters, too!
There is only one tiny chip on the bottom of the satin-finish one (see pics), but I could not find any others!
