Description
Moxie!
A wonderfully worn - and entirely original - Early 19th C. Soft Drink Shipping Box / Crate.
From the soda brand that is a New England Staple from the great state of Maine.
Marked Moxie an all four sides, with two hand holds on the ends.
On the interior, a unique Moxie 1884, mark is still visible, with metal riveted trims on the tops of the ends.
Sturdy, still carries weight, perfect patina of use over a long period of time.
15.5" by 11" by 8.5"
In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...
We love Maine, and if you have spent any time in New England you surely know Moxie!
A regional treat that is somewhere between Root Beer and a Cherry Coke, Moxie is an American Heritage brand for sure.
In one sense, this is just a simple old wood box - primitive at best. In another sense, this is proper Americana, and would be tremendous fun to decorate with.
Even if primitive isn't in your decorating aesthetic, proper history with a bit of kitsch from a great brand surely can find a home!
