Oil on canvas, initialed and dated "FH 10," lower left, (20 x 27 inches), the verso inscribed, signed and dated in pencil "Windy Day on the Marsh - John Calvin Stevens - 1910," the reverse inscribed with title and date "Windy Day on the Marsh - 1910."Frame: H: 31.5 in., W: 39 in.Provenance: Franklin R. Redlon, Portland, Maine.Note: Steven is known as Maine's leading architect of the Shingle and Colonial Revival styles. Stevens was also an accomplished marine and landscape painter. His work was exhibited throughout Maine, as well as at the Boston Art Club, the Salmagundi Club, New York, and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia.Exhibited: "Exhibition of Paintings by John Calvin Stevens," Portland Society of Art (now the Portland Museum of Art), October 12 – November 15, 1912, no. 122.
