Three Chinese Export Porcelain Serving Wares, Qianlong and 19th Century. Comprising a Dutch market armorial bowl and cover with the arms of Nauta Beuckens and Swalue Accolle, circa 1763; an ovoid tea canister or caddy applied with scrolls around the base, painted en grisaille on two sides with a shaped panel enclosing a floral spray; and a celadon-ground bowl and liner, each painted in famille rose enamels with birds, birds pecking pomegranates, insects, flowers and fruit.Bowl and cover: H: 5.5 in., Diam: 4.375 in.Teapot: H: 5.5 in.Bowl and liner: Diam: 4.75 and 6.25 in.Literature: For illustrations and extensive discussions regarding the history, arms, genealogy and sales history for the Nauta bowl and cover, see Dr. Jochem Kroes, "Chinese Armorial Porcelain for the Dutch Market," pp. 461-463 and 619-620, cat. no. 380, a, a-iii, b and a, a-ii, b-d. The service was made for Paulus Rombertus Nauta Beuckens (1737-1789) and his wife and cousin Hester Josina Swalue (1746-1812). Nauta Beuckens was a successful and wealthy wine merchant, and ordered this service on the occasion of his marriage in July 1763. By the late 1780s he was one of two directors of a firm trading with the West Indies called Negotiatie op de Deensche Amerikaansche Eilanden (1786-1787).
