As the 'Sports Artist of the 1984 Olympic Games,' Ernie Barnes was tasked with representing Los Angeles before an international audience. The present lot is a study for Barnes' official Boxing events poster, channeling his own career as a professional athlete in the NFL. Barnes went on to create five official images for the 1984 Olympics, opening the door to many several sports-related commissions that followed soon after and continued throughout his career.
