Silver - it is not the German silver that is a non silver alloy but this does test as sterling with a weight of 26.71 grams. The coin portion does have non-sterling parts, likely the spring It has a floral and leaves pattern around the inside frame of the front-and back with a swing handle bail to put on a watch chain or a necklace. The button presses down to open and exposed the the spring-loaded coin holder - great for dimes or coins up to 20mm. Clicks closed tightly and hinged on the bottom. It is appx. 2" tall and 1.5" wide and 2/3" of an inch thick with the top and back center domed and slightly recessed inside the floral framed area. Very gold but still in very good condition. It is not signed for a maker. (W7825.5X5 SS16417 J LD 8/7/25).
