
Refinished Antique Winchester Model 1873 Third Model Rifle in .38-40
.38-40. 24.25" barrel length. SN: 352702. (Mfg. ca 1890) Blued metal finish overall with brass lifter mounting straight wrist walnut stock, half length handguard, full length magazine tube, and crescent butt. Lever action repeating rifle mounting adjustable full Buckhorn rear and custom cut down front blade sights. Rifle mounts a Third Model pattern sliding dustcover and dovetail, with the tang mark reading -MODEL. 1873-. Barrel address is struck in two lines and reads WINCHESTER-REPEATING-ARMS NEW HAVEN, CT/KINT'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1860. OCTOBER 16. 1860. Base of the lifter is engraved 38 CAL. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Good. Bore is frosty with strong rifling throughout and some pitting. Reblued metal finish shows some scattered light scratches and operating wear, and patches of oxidation to right receiver. Stock has been sanded, and shows a large chip to the right wrist behind receiver, and some handling dents.
