Civil War Era Import Model 1850 Foot Officer's Sword

30" slightly curved single edged spear point blade with 19.5" stopped median fuller. Blade 1.1" wide at ricasso. Overall length 36". 5.75" hilt with cast brass guard with foliate motifs in the face, knuckle bow and stepped pommel cap. Grooved wood grip with traces of shagreen covering and no wire wrap present. No visible markings. Includes a seamed sheet iron scabbard with screw secured throat, modern paint on it and two suspension rings.

Condition
Fair. Blade heavily oxidized and aggressively sharpened with some scattered surface roughness and some pitting. Grip well worn, with only traces of shagreen and no wire present. Peen possibly disturbed and somewhat ill fitting in the pommel cap. Scabbard with moderate wear, some old applied modern paint and some dings and mars.
