
**Pre-War Belgian Browning Superposed 12 Gauge Shotgun
12 Gauge. 28" barrel length. SN: 14644. 2.75" chamber lengths. Imp. Mod. over Modified. Blued metal refinish mounting walnut round knob semi-pistol grip stock with BROWNING/SUPERPOSED branded buttplate, and bordered checkering to wrist and forend. Over-Under boxlock ejector shotgun mounting a full length solid matted barrel rib withs ingle bead sights. Features a gold trigger and tang mounted safety/barrel selector. Upper left barrel marked in two-lines BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS MO/SPECIAL STEEL-12 GAUGE-SHELLS 2 3/4" with right marked MADE IN BELGIUM-BROWNING PATENTS 1578638-1578639/OTHER PATENTS APPLIED FOR. Lower frame struck BROWNING/TRADE MARK. The name of a former owner was engraved into the right frame, and has been obscured by refinish. First name OTTO remains legible, but the surname is not. Item features light border scroll engraving, a sunburst to hingepin, and foliate embellishments to frame flanks. Serial number and markings indicate this shotgun was made before World War II, as it falls in the serial range 1-17000 for the pre-1939 period. {C&R}

Condition
Good. Bores are dirty with some firing residues, and show a light dent to the lower barrel forward of handguard, and a ring forming forward of the chamber. Blued finish thinning overall with brown mottling dominating the lower frame and rear barrel, along with some scattered streaks and scratches. Stock has some handling wear, flattening of checkering, and light dents. Split forming through forend from the right edge to the transverse screw. Action locks up tight with the lever resting left of center.
