**dot 1943 Marked Mauser K98 Rifle by Waffenwerk Bruenn
World War II
8mm Mauser. 24" barrel. SN: 7139. Blued finish, steel furniture, laminated stock. Bolt action fixed magazine repeating rifle with military ladder rear sight, ramped blade front sight with protective ears, bayonet lug, cleaning rod and sling swivels. Visible numbers match, although the magazine floor plate is force matched, the middle barrel band appears to have been ground and renumbered and the numbers on the upper band are a different font that found elsewhere on the gun. No numbers on stock, handguard could not be removed to inspect it. Rear sight is mismatched, rifle shows indication of an arsenal rebuilt with sanded wood, a filled hole in the stock above the triggerguard and a small repair to the wood below the chamber on the obverse. No import marks are noted. Includes a modern leather Uncle Mike's sling.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition
Fair to Good. Bore is dark and heavily oxidized with strong rifling. Metal with some of an old, dull and faded appleid blue finish. Markings mostly legible in metal, none in wood. Some numbers restamped as noted above. Mechanically functional action. Wood with wear, sanded, a filled hole about the triggerguard and a patched repair below the chamber on the obverse.
