Provenance: Sotheby's Americana, 1997.
Born in Pennsylvania and working his adult life as a coal miner, Savitsky ia well known for his bright and colorful depictions of life in and around the hard-coal regions of Lansford, Pennsylvania. He drew with a variety of materials and painted in oils on all kinds of surfaces. Savitsky's work is in the permanant collections of the Smithsonian, Museum of American Folk Art and may more.
