Villeroy and Boch is one of the oldest companies (if not the oldest-1748) still in existence today. It is one of the best known and sought after brands in porcelain. This pattern was very popular and produced from 1978-2001 and has since been discontinued. Amapola is Spanish for "poppy," and is considered a symbol of wealth and contentment. This gorgeous flower is rendered beautifully in the Amapola dinnerware pattern by Villeroy & Boch, which looks gorgeous in both casual and formal table settings. All the designs are in raised relief. The company was composed of two competing companies that merged in 1836. They began in 1748 producing porcelain independently.
