This Vintage MCM Alfi West Germany Chrome Coffee Carafe is in near MINT condition. It looks as if it was never used. Stopper is the original white color with no strains, inside is without evidence of use. Outside has no scratches or use marks. If this was used it certainly was well taken care of. It measures 10 ¼” x 5 ½” and holds 1 liter. This particular design is rare, and you will not find a better one. A little history: West Germany, officially known as the Federal Republic of Germany, was established on May 23, 1949, amid the geopolitical tensions of the Cold War. Its formation followed the division of Nazi Germany into four occupation zones by the Allied powers—United States, Britain, France, and the Soviet Union—after World War II. West Germany aligned with NATO and experienced rapid economic recovery, emerging as a prosperous nation with a high standard of living by the 1970s. In contrast, East Germany, while providing a reasonable standard of living by communist standards, lagged economically behind. The division of Berlin into East and West became a focal point of tension between the two blocs. Ultimately, the fall of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s led to the reunification of Germany in 1990, restoring Berlin as its capital and marking a significant milestone in European history.
