MID-ATLANTIC WALNUT TAVERN TABLE, the detachable/separate two-board rectangular top, with battens attached to the underside, over a plain apron with one side having a central drawer with replaced brass pull, the whole supported by turned legs which are linked by a simple box stretcher which has an applied molded top. Walnut and oak/hickory secondary wood. Second half 18th century. 28 3/4" HOA, 58" x 33 3/4" OA top.
Provenance:
From the estate of Bob Neale.
Good condition overall, the whole with scattered moderate wear, repairs, and losses, particularly to the bottoms of the front legs, and to elements of the stretchers; an old, maybe original, patched repair to a knot hole the top and one to the apron under the batten; battens are probably old replacements, and center of the top has an added board for support on the underside.
