This commanding canvas by Valeriy Kot is a profound symbolic work executed in the artist's distinct style of Surrealism and Esoteric Abstraction. Painted in 1992, shortly after Ukraine gained sovereignty, it transcends political commentary, offering a mystical vision of national self-determination.The scene depicts a sacred, philosophical gathering dominated by a bold palette of luminous golden-yellow and deep blue-colours that metaphysically embody Ukrainian identity. The central composition features two female archetypes:The Golden Figure embodies Statehood, Future, and Freedom. The Blue Figure, shrouded in shadow, represents the Past, Spiritual Knowledge, and legacy transfer.Their interaction over the table, featuring two delicate glasses, symbolizes a shared covenant and a profound act of unity. The composition's focal point is the Sphere marked with the number 7, a powerful esoteric symbol of perfection, spiritual completion, and wisdom. This suggests that Independence is viewed by Kot not just as a political event, but as the culmination of a long cycle and the beginning of a higher spiritual path.Framed by an arch that opens to a bright blue future, the work is a visually dynamic and intellectually engaging masterpiece on national destiny and eternal values.-Valeriy Kot - a talented Ukrainian Surrealist artist whose work unites architectural precision with boundless imagination.
