He was equally successful with portraits of the heroes of developed socialism, and landscapes of his native Dnieper region.In 2001 he was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of Ukraine". His last lifetime solo exhibition was held in 2007 at the Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum.
