Description
A unique vintage commemorative desk clock from Harrah's Casino's 1st Invitational tournament in 1962. This distinctive piece features a modernist design with a circular lucite (acrylic) case surrounded by a polished brass rim. The clock face has a striking black textured dial with gold-tone hour markers and hands, with an alarm function indicated on the dial. The lucite surround is engraved with "Harrah's" at the top, "1962" split between left and right positions (19-62), and "1ST INVITATIONAL" along the bottom curve. This commemorative piece likely served as a gift or prize for participants or guests at Harrah's first major tournament event. The design reflects the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic popular in the 1960s, with its clean lines, geometric form, and combination of modern materials. The movement appears to be marked "VENUS" and includes alarm functionality.
Condition
Fair vintage condition with some issues. The lucite case shows age-appropriate yellowing and surface scratches. There are two visible cracks in the lucite - one on the upper portion and one on the lower portion of the case. The brass rim shows tarnish and surface wear consistent with age. The black dial remains legible with clear gold markings. Movement condition unknown - clock has not been tested and we cannot confirm if it runs. Sold as-is and may require battery replacement or repair to function.
