VERY FINE BLACK DUCK by Claude Trader, Florence, NJ. Appears to be original paint. Very good structural condition. Hollow construction. Incised feather carving to back and tail. Raised carved wing tips. Snug head with detailed painted feather work. Retains glass eyes. Bill with carved nostrils and mandible. Retains leather rigging, pad weight and maker's copper tag. Overall length is approximately 16 inches. For an almost identical example, see "New Jersey Decoys" by H. Fleckenstein, Jr., Page 254, #554, misidentified as a mallard.
