He was a member of Glasgow’s Art Club and a regular and prolific exhibitor at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts from 1912–64, also showing at RSA, RSW, RA and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow, has his oil Symington, Ayrshire, bought in 1944. The Glasgow Institute’s Blythswood Gallery put on a memorial show, another being held later in the city at the Armstrong Gallery. Description: This evocative oil painting captures a rustic, countryside scene featuring a weathered stone path leading to an archway surrounded by dense, dark green foliage. The muted tones and earthy palette convey a moody, atmospheric quality, with soft light illuminating parts of the composition and hinting at a tranquil rural setting.
