This is an original WWII Defence Medal, awarded to military personnel and civilians who contributed to the defence of Britain and the Commonwealth during the Second World War.
Obverse: Features a left-facing portrait of King George VI, with the inscription: "GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP." (George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all Britons, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India).
Reverse: Displays the Royal Crown resting on an oak tree, flanked by two rampant lions, symbolising Britain’s resilience and strength during the war.
The inscription reads: "THE DEFENCE MEDAL", with the years 1939-1945 above.
Material & Size:
Material: Cupro-nickel.
Diameter: Approx. 36mm.
Suspension & Condition: Retains its original suspender bar but is missing the ribbon.
Shows light wear and toning, consistent with age.
