A fine quality 19th century French kingwood jardinière of shaped form, mounted throughout with richly cast ormolu mounts.
The hinged lid is set with a hand-painted Sèvres-style porcelain plaque depicting floral decoration on a bleu céleste ground, framed within a pierced gilt bronze border.
The kingwood top is veneered in a chevron pattern and edged with an ormolu gallery.
The interior retains the original lead liner, consistent with its use as a planter.
Raised on elegant cabriole legs with ormolu mounts to the knees and sabots to the feet.
Good colour and patina.
Structurally sound.
Minor loss to veneer at the rear moulding and some light age-related wear to the surface.
The lead liner is aged and oxidised.
