Of rectangular form with engine-turned decoration and vacant cartouche to the lid.
The interior is richly gilded, with a detailed floral pierced grille.
Clearly hallmarked to both lid and base with maker’s mark FC for Francis Clark, lion passant, Birmingham anchor, and date letter t for 1842.
A good example of 19th-century English silver, attractive both for collectors and as a personal gift.
